Chapter 571: That Was Not A Game

And Han Meng frowned when he saw Lu Chen coming back,

"Was Greed Viper strong?" All those cuts on his body and the wound on his neck showed the tough fight Lu Chen had. Lu Chen shook his head,

"No, he wasn't that strong. But he was more of an annoyance in the beginning." That was true. He didn't understand what Greed Viper was doing at first. But once he got the hang of it, he understood how to defeat him.

"Ho. Confident, are we?" Han Meng said with a laugh. Lu Chen shrugged his shoulders and looked at Shang Mingtao. The latter looked at him.

"Hi, Shang Mingtao." Lu Chen calmly said.

Shang Mingtao's eyes widened as he asked, "Brother Chen, are you an anime character?!"

Huh?! That's your first question?! It was Lu Chen's turn for his eyes to go wide.

Shang Mingtao explained, "I mean: look at you. You got the looks, and you're a great fighter too. And you have a secret identity as a young master during the day and a hero at night."

Hmm? Han Meng tilted his head as he looked at Lu Chen. What he said is kinda true. Lu Chen was very similar to a superhero. Even he never saw someone like that.

Lu Chen frowned, "Is there something wrong with his head?"

"!" Shang Mingtao was surprised by his words. And so was Han Meng too!

The look in Lu Chen's eyes was cold and desolate. He continued, "This isn't a game or a book. You were going to die if we didn't come to rescue you."

"!" And Shang Mingtao understood now. He remembered the knife near his eyes. He was that close to having his life taken away.

"Get it through your thick skull. That was not a game. That was real life." Lu Chen said coldly. He looked at Han Meng, "We'll take him home now."

Han Meng nodded and asked, "Where do you live?"

"I live here." Shang Mingtao said with a hesitant voice. Han Meng nodded.

"..." Throughout the entire ride, there was an awkward silence between the three. But it didn't take long for the car to arrive a few blocks away from Shang Mingtao's home. Han Meng turned to Lu Chen,

"I'll bring the kid back. You need to fix your wounds." Lu Chen still had cuts around his body.

"Gotcha." Lu Chen nodded.

"..." Han Meng and Shang Mingtao walked back. But there was only silence between them. It was an odd combination. The only interaction was Han Meng killing many assassins to save him.

Han Meng was the first one to speak,

"Don't get angry at my little brother."

"Huh?"

"He may act all tough and angry like that in front of you. But he was genuinely worried about you." Han Meng revealed.

"He was?" Shang Mingtao's eyes widened.

Han Meng laughed, "You should have seen his face when you were taken? He was beating the snot out of the guys who took you. He even wasted 15 million without a thought."

"He did?!" Shang Mingtao was shocked.

"Yep, so don't be so mad at him." Han Meng laughed and added, "Also, you must not tell anyone about this. Understood."

"Mmhmm." Shang Mingtao nodded.

"Good. Now get going." Han Meng slapped him in the back and left him alone. He returned to the car.

He saw Lu Chen had finished patching himself up. And the two were going to go.

As the car left,

"Senior Lu, see you later!" Behind them, Shang Mingtao screamed as he waved his hand at the car driving off.
