Iron town
Iron town
Just because I couldn't train Tank for battle at the moment didn't mean I wouldn't be forcing him to work on energy manipulation. I am actually pretty sure that even if he couldn't learn any more moves until be becomes a Butterfree other than harden that this training will come in handy later. Tank was all for it too since he agreed that just sitting on my shoulder stuffing his face constantly with berries wasn't the absolute best use of his time. Still the only types of energy he had available to him at the moment was bug and normal since he only had those two as moves.-
With that all planned out I turned to focus on Gaia and Vulcan as we traveled towards the nearest settlement. Patches of the forest and ground along the way were destroyed when they went all out in their spars. We stopped a total of three times since the sun was going down and none of us wanted to travel at night. On the third day we traveled through the forest until we got onto the main road and I put both Vulcan and Gaia in their balls after having to argue with them over it.-
Sadly there was an actual law that said it was illegal to have pokemon over a certain size out with you in any settlement labeled town or higher by the league. The label for settlements was based on the amount of people living in it with a minimum population of a hundred needed to be considered a town and villages being under that. A city by comparison required at least ten thousand residents to count. Finally there was the hub cities of the world that had over one million residents at minimum , there were at least eight in every region with a gym circuit.-
The place I was walking towards however was only a town with about three hundred people living there named Iron town. It showed too as there was not only a pokemart and pokecenter but there were many buildings that looked different from the others in design and several shops for various goods. Tank didn't need to be put in his ball as a small size pokemon and thus got to marvel at the town in person while my other two had to settle for the view that the ball gave them.-
Modern pokeballs were interesting in that they somehow allowed the pokemon inside them to view their surroundings. How that worked was beyond me but it did so I wasn't going to complain. Still it was clear to see why this town was named thanks to the many chimneys on the majority of the buildings. There was a lot of weapons and other metal works to be seen just walking into the town that in addition to the heavy scent of smoke made me grin. 'Looks like I can get a good spear while I am here , but first I should head to the pokecenter to check their posted jobs.'-
'I'd prefer not selling any of my resources this early in my journey.' I thought as I walked towards the clean shiny white and red building in the distance. Pokecenters were not just a place you went to in order to get your pokemon seen to medically but also worked as an inn and job center for trainers registered with the league. The medical services were covered by the league but the other two were the Joy clans money making business as they charged per night and took a cut of the profits from the jobs if there was any.-
The league turned a blind eye to this as the clan had perfectly reasonable rates for both of them that nearly all trainers could accept. I drew quite a lot of attention to myself as I walked through the town but chose to ignore it. With my unusual height and appearance I had long since accepted the attention I was going to get. To be fair though the variant Caterpie on my shoulder munching on a Cheri berry probably didn't help matters at all.-
I didn't need to duck to enter the pokecenter automatic doors and still had a couple feet over my head to boot. It didn't surprise me since the standard for the size of the pokecenter had to be very large to accommodate nearly any type of pokemon in case of emergency. The trainers and staff inside the center all stared at me for a moment when I entered but the long time trainers or staff quickly recomposed themselves. I approached one of the available counters maned by a woman with long green hair and eyes that had pale skin and freckles on her face.-
She was fairly attractive all things considered but she was pure business when I approached. "Good afternoon. What can I help you with today?" she said in a friendly but professional manner while craning her head to look up at me. "Hello , I am slightly low on funds and would like to look at the available job postings if that is possible." I said with a friendly smile. "Is there any preferences for the type of missions?" she asked while opening a drawer in the desk and leafing through some papers. "Nothing long term please. I am merely passing through the town." I explained calmly and she hummed in acknowledgement before pulling out a small stack of papers.-
"You may sit over there while you look through these , if you find one you'd like to take let me know so I can make a copy of it and mark you down on file as having accepted it." the woman said while pointing at a table that had a couch next to it. "Thank you for the help." I said with a nod and headed over to that area to take a seat and sort through the pile.-
The jobs were both mundane and not in equal parts with a suspicious amount looking like household chores that didn't even need someone to be a trainer to accomplish. Things like painting a house or babysitting were even on the job sheets! There were a few jobs though that definitely needed a trainer to take care of such as clearing out a Rattata infestation and hunting Pidgeys for their meat. There was one job though that paid fairly well and I knew was a rare opportunity that I decided to take which prompted a quest from the system.

'So any job I take also triggers a mission in the system huh? Neat.' I thought before carefully stacking the job papers and walking back to the clerk. "I would like to take this job please." I said while handing over the paper with the details on it while the stack was place to the side. The woman glanced over the job before typing something out on her computer and asking for my I.D card. After swiping the I.D through a card reader she handed it back and wished me luck on the job.
