Chapter 776 T.D.O.N.B: Gifts For Kids
As midnight passed I immediately departed to go and visit the new hunting grounds. I kinda wasted the first respawn, but with everything that was going on in the city, I never thought, even for a moment, that this freaking system works this way and I should go clear those spots.
I ended up returning with 7 976 400 points, which combined with what was left from the upgrade, put me at 8 798 800. I also already accumulated 184 class points.
I visited the new, fourth, hunting ground which was very interesting. Definitely let me understand the theme of that part of the world, but more about that later.
It is more important to talk about the little changes from the Arc dome which I began noticing. It clearly had something to do with the four directions in Petrograd instead of the three, which was the situation in Arc. I also wasn't sure if I wasn't exaggerating, because my memories weren't that keen on this particular issue. Ok, I'm explaining. In Petrograd, the fourth upgrade gave us access to four additional hunting grounds, while if my memories were correct the second layer in Arc had a total of six of them.
There were harpies, spiders, and ghouls. The new spot had only four. Orcs, bears, lizardfolk, and the new mysterious place.
I thought that a lot, utilizing my knowledge about how the device works and came to the conclusion that this fourth direction was changing how the whole place was working because of the distribution of energy in four directions instead of three.
Anyway... I know that's boring, so let's talk about something more interesting. Stuff that happened later, when Tihana and the rest of the crew returned to Petrograd from their hunt. I already had a house prepared for them to rest in.
At first, I wanted to go with the same thing I had in Arc, but then I had this thought that we will get a bunch of squatters begging us to sleep in the empty rooms, so I decided to go for something smaller. Just a regular home with four bedrooms, a dining room, a bathroom, and a kitchen. Something I was definitely gonna work on in the future, but also something just enough for now. And the price tag wasn't that big. I just had to spend 1,5 million on it.
Despite exhaustion, they all rushed inside watched by the envious eyes of other hunters. As I found a few minutes later, it was a race who can first get to the bathroom.
Two hours later - yes, some people just have to waste that much water - we all gathered in de dining room to have our first proper dinner since our arrival in this world. All a little bit wet, but also very, very happy.
- So... - I started the conversation looking at Tihana. - Tell me about how much you managed to do today.
- We cleared goblins and rats - she said with a mouth full of rice mixed with vegetables. - Then we went to the wolves, but I didn't dare to go to the cave. People were too tired, and I started to worry that some of us will get injured. Mom, me, and John are not enough to protect the remaining almost forty people.
- It was a good decision. You shouldn't rush things. You will get there, and serious injuries might cost you more than what you would gain - I agreed.
- Besides, I heard that the wolf boss is very strong - she added after shoving a lot of food into her mouth.
It was almost falling out, which made me slightly irritated, but in her defense, she was very tired and very hungry after a whole day of work.
- Yeah. He is, to put it mildly, annoying - I agreed again.
- So we instead went to check the new hunting ground. I was a bit afraid of it, so we took things very carefully. I was really shocked when I saw them for the first time... They remained me of Ki'rai - she said.
- Hey! They don't look anything like Ki'rai! - I raised my voice slightly. - They are a bit taller and a bit slimmer. Besides the skin gas those callused things on the back.
- What does the boss look like? - Leonel asked straight up.
- Like... - I needed a moment to think how to describe that creature. - Like a miniature Vazasse.
- Vezasse? - Celestine asked, narrowing her eyes, with confusion painted all over her face.
It made me sigh.
- An alien, who helped me escape. Have you seen him? - I asked Tihana.
She shook her head with a mouth full of food.
- Just imagine a giant walking crocodile. That would be him, for the most part - I finally explained. - The boss of that place, though, is obviously shorter, and also not as muscular, but it's basically a crocodile. Or maybe alligator? I never knew the difference...
My words made Carmelita laugh, which she tried to hide under a hand placed over her mouth. It was a nice view for me since I had this feeling she was getting further and further away from me.
- What class does he give? - Leonel asked.
- That's something... You know what? Why don't we go there, so you can check on your own? - I proposed, putting my elbow on the table, with a fork in my hand.
His eyes immediately became big and all sparkly. I was surprised they didn't start glowing. He opened his mouth wide too, but then the corners stretched turning the shock into a smile of happiness.
- Really? - He asked.
- Yeah - I confirmed. - We will get you one class point, and your sister will get the other one. What do you say?
They both looked at one another, smiling, but didn't say a thing. Their eyes, though, were speaking way more than the mouths could.
- What about mom? - Leonel then quickly asked, looking at me again.
With the corner of my eye, I bought Celestine, who was about to cry, as it was the very first time the boy has called her using this word.
- Mom can get all the class points whenever she wishes, so don't you worry about her - I told him.
