Chapter 206 Saviors' Tomb
The gnawers ran straight for the foxes. Zixin and Nabi quickly made work of them. Zixin's fire strikes set the gnawers ablaze, scaring the gnawers from the light source. Nabi, on the other hand, stood in the same exact spot she planted herself on and made work of the gnawers with her tails. Her tails furiously slammed and pounded the gnawers onto the ground, instantly killing them.
The rumbling of the Saviors' tomb grew louder as Lady Vix'i continued to weave her hands in the air. Lee Seng clutched his chest. The tomb's movement was making him react in a similar manner. Gnawers continued to swarm the area as Zixin and Nabi made quick work of them. Lee Seng turned to the left.
'There's rumbling coming from that way, too.' Lee Seng observed. The rumbling had concentrated on the tomb and where Nabi and Zixin were fighting. Lee Seng could barely see the forest line from where he was standing and watched as a huge monster crossed his night vision threshold.
"What the hell is that?" Lee Seng asked. Zixin dashed forward and slashed through another small herd of gnawers. His head whipped over to the right and noticed the large monster.
"Tch," Zixin backflipped back into his spot. "We have a problem. A cursed ogre caught us." The cursed ogre rushed straight for Lady Vix'i and the two foxlings.
"Protect Lady Vix'i!" Nabi shouted. "I can handle the gnawers. Make sure the ogre doesn't get its hands on the twins!" Zixin nodded and whipped his fiery tails onto the gnawers and flew straight at the cursed ogre.
"You're mine!" Zixin shouted. Lee Seng watched as Zixin collided with the cursed ogre, body erupting in flames as he connected with it. The ogre screeched as purple energy rippled out of it and ate the flames in an instant. The ogre swung and Zixin pulled back towards Lee Seng.
"Careful. Don't let this one touch you." Zixin told him. "I'll handle this one. You help Nabi with the gnawers. I think you should be able to handle those." Lee Seng nodded and turned to leave when the cursed ogre released purple energy straight for him.
A wall of flames flew up, eating at the purple energy as Lee Seng forced himself to continue. He ran towards a group of gnawers that managed to pass Nabi's whirlwind of tails. Lee Seng felt his body shake as he swung and missed the gnawer as it dodged. Gravity ripped out of his fist, pulling some gnawers up into the air.
Keng dashed towards another group of gnawers and slashed at them. The wispy energy easily connected as he pulled back. The gnawers' energy ripped out of their bodies and fueled Keng and Lee Seng's bodies. Nabi slammed all of her tails onto the ground, sending out a gust of wind that blew the gnawers away. She flicked her index finger in the air and sigils started to appear.
"Fox Flame." Blue flames shot out of the sigils and barraged the field with fire. The gnawers erupted in blue flames, panicking the rest as they tried to run away. She pushed the burning corpses to the front and slashed horizontally with her two index fingers. The flames rose higher and the sounds of gnawers screeched.
Lee Seng and Keng made quick work of the gnawers that managed to pass Nabi. Keng continued to rip their energies from them while Lee Seng blew the gnawers apart with gravity punches.
'The tomb is opening for us.' Lady Vix'i observed. The mossy cobblestone buildings were turning and growing. A huge temple built from mossy cobblestone rose into the sky as a door began to reveal itself. Purple energy rippled from the left of Lady Vix'i as Zixin continued his fight with the cursed ogre. The ogre slammed down as Zixin's body faded like a flame.
Zixin appeared in front of the ogre's face and slammed his fist into the ogre. His body rippled with flames, watching the ogre fly to the left. Nabi's tail slammed the ogre into the ground, cracking the earth around the cursed ogre. Yellow energy started to siphon off of the ogre and Nabi began to glow. The ogre struggled to claw through the thick tails. Life quickly faded from its eyes as Zixin came to a stop next to Nabi.
"Ah, you took my kill!" Zixin complained. Nabi's bright yellow eyes looked at Zixin as she pulled her tails back.
"You were going to lose the cursed ogre, so I took it."
"Oh come on! That one had a good soul!" Zixin pouted. Nabi shook her head and turned to face the twins.
"You two do well. Your fighting styles are similar but the way you execute things are totally different." Nabi commented. "Keng fights close to the Fox way. I see you're teaching Lee Seng how to do the same."
"He's getting the basics down. I managed to teach him how to rip out the soul energy." Keng told them.
"Yeah, but it just ends up fueling my Dark Matter energy in the end. If I'm just gonna get the soul by killing monsters, I might as well just give them a good punch." Lee Seng punched the air as Zixin furiously nodded in agreement.
"It looks like Lady Vix'i is about done. Stay alert." Zixin instructed. Lee Seng and Keng nodded and turned to look around. The vibrating feeling in their chests only grew as Lady Vix'i made more progress. Lee Seng felt the urge to look at the Saviors' Tomb. He moved towards Lady Vix'i and raised his hand. A subtle light flew out and hit the mossy cobblestones. The rumbling grew to the loudest it could go and quickly started to spin back into its correct shape.
Lady Vix'i stopped weaving and watched as the Tomb responded to Lee Seng's energy. The mossy cobblestone building spun back into its original shape. The Tomb resembled a temple. A symbol was plastered in the middle of the building. Fox tails in the shape of a circle with three blazing suns within the fox tail circle.
"The Saviors' mark." Lady Vix'i told Lee Seng. "If you're truly of the Saviors' sect, that symbol will appear onto your body for all to see. We will enter with you, but Nabi, Zixin and I must stay at the entrance while you traverse it. Be careful, foxling. The Tomb has been empty for many cycles." She went back and forth between English and the Fox tongue.
"If everything is true, will I have my questions answered?" Lee Seng asked. Lady Vix'i nodded as the Tomb finally came to a stop.
"Be careful, though. The curse in the forest may have infiltrated the Tomb, so things may not be as it once was when it used to be a thriving place. Your real test begins soon."
"Is there anything we're supposed to look for?" Keng asked.
"It's been many cycles since I've been here. I haven't guided any Saviors to the Tomb before, so I don't know what you're looking for. I just know you two are bonded together by the same Soul orb, so do well to not get hurt. I should mention this, too. Any damage you take while you're within the Death Forest, will hurt your spiritual body more than your physical body. Be careful." Lady Vix'i warned.
"Will do, Lady Vix'i." Keng nodded. His eyes went over to his partner, who was still staring at the mossy cobblestone building. "You ready, Lee?"
"Yeah." Lee Seng nodded.
"Let's go, then. Nabi, Zixin. We'll enter the building but go no further. We must wait for the foxlings there." Lady Vix'i spoke.
"Yes, m'lady." Nabi and Zixin bowed.
Lee Seng and Keng stuck behind Lady Vix'i as they walked up the mossy cobblestone steps. The doors were large and Lady Vix'i easily opened them without a motion. The doors rumbled and revealed the inside. It was bright. The inside walls were clean and had motifs and decorations honoring the God King.
"The Saviors must've loved the God King like the rest of the Family. They honored him with all of this." Nabi spoke in amazement.
"The Saviors worship the God King like the rest of us. Adored him like the rest of us. Fought for him like the rest of us. They went where they were needed. They built the Tomb here because the God King had mentioned something about this place being their home." Lady Vix'i told them. Nabi and Zixin closed the doors behind them and Lady Vix'i settled her eyes on the twins. "Figure out why your orb looks like brother Jyu'so's and Eldest Chimera. Find the Saviors' most sacred room and see if you can enter it. You'll find all your answers there."
"Find the sacred room and get our answers." Lee Seng nodded. "Sounds easy to me… But this place is way too clean for it being empty…"
"Something worries you, foxling?" Zixin snickered.
"If this place has been empty for cycles like you said, why would it be clean like this? Not a speck of dust nor a weed."
"It looks like someone or something's been wandering this place." Keng pointed to an open door to the right.
"Whatever it is, be careful." Lady Vix'i told the twins.
