Psychokinetic Eyeball Pulling

Chapter 129: War ( + Announcement )

Chapter 129: War ( + Announcement )

Astrid glanced up at the pillar of light, but her amazement, and confusion, only lasted a moment.

The Great No-Eyed One summoned four massive spiralling blades above his head and charged straight for the driader. He growled and threw one of the blades. It split the air as if it was a vortex.

The driader didn’t seem to have the same physical capabilities as the femora overlord, instead, the driader sucked in the surrounding mana as if it was the centre of a chaotic storm. Astrid even felt her own mana control being tempered with, but she managed to wrestle back her control by cranking her psychic mana to the maximum.

Slamming his staff to the ground, the driader summoned a barrier of dark purple encased him like a cocoon. The surrounding grass was flattened, despite it not being in contact with the shield. It was the same for the foliage up above, it was as if the shield was affecting gravity, just like Astrid’s Graviton Field.

Seeing the shield, a flash of inspiration entered her mind. Astrid had only been thinking about using her dark matter control as an offensive Skill, but what if she created a barrier out of it instead? What different effects would it have?

There were also the tier 3 perks of her mind barrier. It would reflect damage against physical attackers, along with Graviton Field, and whatever the effects of a newly formed dark matter Mind Barrier would create, she was desperate to find out.

But right now wasn’t a good time to practise her theory, she was worried that if she lowered her guard, the femora that was laying in wait would reap her life. However, Astrid instantly found out that it was a fruitless thought as the Great No-Eyed one grunted and threw a rotating blade straight for its body.

The femora was forced to move, only for the blade to turn and glide through multiple trees. The enormous collection of trees crashed to the ground, scattering leaves and dirt up in the air

The other two blades clashed against the purple barrier. As they impacted, a horrifying screeching sound assaulted her ears. Astrid resisted the temptation of disabling her hearing as the only thing that covered her vision was an ocean of purplish red sparks.

The Great No-Eyed One grunted. His hollow eye sockets shone as if there were frigid lanterns placed within. With another grunt, the rotating saw-blade grew to a staggering size as the momentum increased to a terrifying degree. The thrum of the blade almost cut reality itself as it blasted past the barrier, then continued straight through the driader’s body.

However, the image of the old driader being split in two didn’t come to fruition. Instead, the old man with lizard eyes walked out from a shadow from a nearby tree.

Astrid glanced at the pillar of light once more as a System notification appeared into view once more.

Time remaining until the birth of the evolution stone: 47:53:55

Her brows dipped at the added information. It seemed like the dungeon wanted them all to congregate and fight, but it was good news for her, and not just because of the reward. The beacon was also acting as an incredibly effective flare.

If she could see it, then there was a high chance that Leena and the others were currently gazing up at it as well.

Although Astrid was aware that it wouldn’t be easy, it was the only way of potentially meeting up with the others. Besides, the psychos didn’t seem to be very good at tracking Leena or the others down, so she had to rely on herself.

The fact that the Great No-Eyed One was currently dealing with the presumably two strongest entities within the jungle, meant that her competition for the evolution stone was less than what it would have been. She would make sure to thank him after she had obtained her reward.

Without waiting another moment, Astrid connected to the matter within her body and bolted to the side.

It would be a smart decision not to waltz straight into their battle as she had no doubt her body would be torn asunder faster than she could blink.

The two monsters glanced at her from the corner of their eyes, then moved to the enormous pillar of light behind them. They wanted to make a move against her, which surprised Astrid. It meant that they had also received the words of the System. Either that or they knew what the pillar of light meant. With no time to ask the Great No-Eyed One the question, she used his mighty strength to bypass the monsters.

However, it was never going to be as easy as she thought.

The driader and femora overlords screamed something in their language. It didn’t take long for the respective armies to charge head on toward Astrid.

Femora’s leaps from tree-to-tree, while the driaders bolted with their elongated legs. But she had an army of her own.

Psychos of all shapes and sizes rampaged forth seeing their Eye Queen being chased by a bunch of monsters. They screamed and yelled obscenities towards them as they brandished their weapons of choice–A long stick with a saw-blade on the end of it.

Some of them were specialised riders on the backs of the massive grimlock lizards. The psychos cared little for their own wellbeing. Every attack was aimed to kill, regardless if it ended up causing severe injuries to themselves, or even death.

Rather, they celebrated each wound marred on their body, as if it made them feel alive.

Astrid connected to the strongest of the pyscho’s and ripped out their eyeballs. A sudden, ancient strength filled their bodies as their muscles bulged. It looked like the skin could no longer hold them, yet the still increased regardless.

Their strengthened bodies ravaged their enemies. Each powered Psycho managed to kill tens of the enemy before succumbing to their injuries.

Astrid attempted to save them with Mind Barrier, and sent multiple [Crashes] around the battlefield, but there were simply too many of the dirader’s, and femora’s for her to save them.

The two armies had joined together as they realised the psychos added might.

At first Astrid thought that they were spooked somehow and had entered their territory by accident, but now it was clear to her that they were here to overtake it by force. Perhaps it was planned by overlords?

Frowning, Astrid yanked the eyeballs of the enemies as the Skill effect on her ring activated, sending brian matter and bone scattering in the surroundings. As she slaughtered tens of them at once, thirty took their place.

Gazing in the distance, only more arrived by the second. Had they abandoned their territory? Astrid thought.

Dodging an incoming purple missile from one of the driader mages, Astrid formed a massive metal spear and threw it with all her psychic might towards the humanoid. It tore through the air aiming straight for its beating heart.

Multiple mages stood side-by-side as they channelled their mana to block the hit. It looked like they could sense how powerful the throw was as they worked together to form a thickened barrier. The spear impacted the shield, causing sparks to fly, along with a metallic clang.

Witnessing the hit being blocked, Astrid decided to enter the melee to get closer. Besides, she still had a card that they didn’t know existed, and it would also help out the psychos at the vanguard.

Astrid flew down and rocketed forward. Her Graviton Field slowed down any attacker that got into close range. It allowed more time for the psychos surrounding her to annihilate the enemies before an attack struck them. Each swing of the enemy's weapon slowed as if it entered a field of high tensile cobwebs or glue. The femora’s that relied upon their genetics for their high, burst movement were severely affected from the extra gravity that weighed them down.

The psycho to the side swung his saw-blade like an axe as he chopped straight through the slowed down femora like a hot knife through butter.

With her strongest warriors no longer suffering any injuries with her on the front-line, they tore through the joined army. Astrid could have flown around the army and made her way to the beacon of light, but she had no idea what dangers lay in wait.

Judging by the dungeons she had experienced before, she highly doubted that it would be as straightforward as it seemed. No, there was always going to be a catch. Like damned doors that couldn’t open, or strange illusionary worlds.

A sudden explosion ripped into the right vanguard of psychos. It was around fifty metres away from where she stood, yet she could feel the intense might of the attack. The driader overlord had attacked. Or rather, it had summoned something capable of the attack.

Standing in front of the driader was a hulking stone sculpture that brimmed with a primal strength. Strange markings were etched into its body that glowed with a bright purple hue. Smoke emitted from its palm, evidence of the attack that had just annihilated a bunch of psychos.

Gazing at the bloodied mess of corpses that lay scattered on the floor, Astrid felt nothing. She had the experience to know that it wasn’t because she didn’t know them enough to care, but rather it was the Sinwen blood that raged within her veins.

It was a bloodline that had seen countless loss of life. Astrid had the thick bloodline of generations old warriors that weren’t afraid to sacrifice themselves for the greater good of humanity.

Watching Great No-Eyed One battle all three of them together only increased the intensity of her blood flow as her mind [Crashed] into the impending army like a cataclysmic wave that had once tried to annihilate the human race.

Bodies of both driader and femora were blown to smithereens. Only the cries of their neighbours, and a bloodied mist was left in its wake.

With a savage grin, she flew up into the air for a moment. Astrid hadn’t finished her attack.

Astrid connected to the dark matter and amassed within her palm. The heaviness of the strange matter bore down on her mind, but with concentration, she willed it into existence. A ball of purple energy emerged. It grew into the size of a small ball as it spiralled and rotated. The air screamed in protest. Astrid felt her mana container rapidly drain from the mighty Skill.

It was the same attack she had created within the Mind Domain of that damned psychic monster, or whatever it was.

With it fully formed, she fired it forward. The air surrounding it transformed into a purple haze as it sucked the air into it like a spiralling black hole.

The attack reflected against the countless eyeballs on the battlefield as they watched it approach them in horror. It struck into the centre of the combined mass of two armies.
