Chapter 31: Collecting Quests
Chapter 31: Collecting Quests
Inside is the leader of Riker town. An old man in his eighties. Tyr says, " my lord the people are hunger why are not you doing anything?"
The old man, "Me a lord! I'm no such thing. I am a member of the council we have no lord in our region. None of the nobles in the capital wants this backwater." Tyr is happy it is exactly as he remembers. In his research, they found that if you can get all the council members in the region to like you. You can trigger a special quest that will reward the player with a noble rank. There is another reason he came to Riker though. This quest pays in silver for bread. They have mines but no food. Merchants refuse to travel here because there are no profits. Given how large the region it is like buying a mansion in disrepair and building it back up. I the short the investment needed is large but if he can revitalize the region he will be able to impose his will in the region.
Tyr sells all the food he has the councilman paying him in silver for five stacks of Bread, Mince Pie, Sweetbread, Dried Meat, salted fish, mushroom, and herbs. The entire transaction is worth almost five hundred silver. The reason is that it will only work this once he starts to feed the people the prices will decrease and stable at around thirteen copper for a piece of food. It takes ten to produce. Tyr doesn't mind he has done what he needed to do He cleared all three merchant missions at once. The first mission is to trade more than silver. The second is conducting trade in a neighbouring village and the third is to track more than a thousand items. These three quests test a traders ability to supply large amounts of goods, find good customers and make a profit.
Tyr says, "Councilman I believe there is money to be made here would a partnership be possible with your village." Tyr already knows the answer but he is one of the nine ways to trigger the quest.
The councilman has a look of distress on his face rubbing his chin he says, "My lord even if you possess the qualification. I alone cannot agree to this. The council I am a part of rules over all the major villages in the region. You must go to each of them and gain the favour of the councilperson. Only once you have each of their votes can we agree to long term trade. Are you willing to undertake such an arduous journey?"
[quest received!]
The Hidden Gems
Difficulty: A-rank
information: Travel to the nine villages and gain the favour of each councilperson
[yes/no]
Tyr clicks yes this is it, The quest that looks simple but will lead him to glory. The nine gems are fallen ancient cities each contains a secret technology from the second realmic empire and is the key to controlling the whole region. With SKY Ocean Hunter working on the sea part. They will control the whole place with an iron grasp. A normal player would have to go to every village in the region. Doing random quests in each village until by luck they find the right places. Most players will also only be able to tell the difference between a hamlet and a village once player towns start popping up.
Tyr is going to smash this quest normally a player would now have to travel to all these lands and do random fetch quests and the like. He though knows the central plot and thus plans to activate the nine main quests in each village. Share it with the others and have all of them complete it together. This will allow ll them to dominate anywhere in the region. First, though he needs to go back to Pike.
Tyr hurries back he had left the few craftsmen they have working on the catamaran for him. They are only building the pieces he will have to put them together himself. His Sovereign class is probably one the best classes available to lifestyle players. Tyr can only imagine the kind of things he will be able to make in future.
Arriving back in Pike the air is tense. It seems the players are afraid of something. Tyr moves quickly as some players are following him.
Tyr says, "Here you go. Please divide this amongst those who contributed I know it's not a lot but it's a start right." Tyr hands Medium Bunz half the silver he earned. He wants to show them the amount of money that can be made by partnering with him and Bunz. For now, the auction house is yet to open so most players sell their coins in an online grey market. This is extremely profitable especially for Cantos Industries as they are the ones who created the site.
Left with two hundred and fifty silver. Tyr rushes to the Merchants Association. He is lead to the second floor. He takes out his id which is updated to carry the image of piles of coins on it. With this, he is an official member and has access to the road train. Unlike in the kingdom here, they have to use tamed monsters as the tamer village no longer exists. Lucky for him Tyr is the first player to become a merchant by clearing all the missions.
His rewards are fifty silver and + 500 hundred to his reputation with the association. Plus he also earned five points in his Sovereign skill path. He upgrades the main Sovereign skill five times. Out of the ten that it can be upgraded. The benefits are minuscule for now since all it does is give him a flat five per cent bonus to all his physical stats.
Tyr cant believes how awesome this is. There are few classes that have a percentage boost and fewer that affect both combat and lifestyle. The merchant only shop is located on the second floor counter. THere he sees several different carriages and monsters pulling them. He selects a three carriage long Road train pulled by six Wild dogs. Wild digs are massive easily trained and most importantly loyal. If he took a creature that can solo pull the Road train like an earth salamander. It could run away if he ever comes under attack. The road train he chose has one carriage for storage another for passengers and the last one is a portable workshop.
He had a feeling about this road train because when he glossed over it he felt like skill tried to activate. He wasn't sure which. Outside the Merchant Association, people are going as a Road Train pulled by six Wild Dogs has appeared outside. Players are trying to see in the carriages and SOme are already sending messages to their guild leaders.
Tyr goes to the personal counter he needs NPCs to look after the dogs since he can't hire players just yet. One they are not of high enough level and two they are not trustworthy. A rather rotund man lick his in envy as he makes his way to the carriage. Tyr hires a trainer and monster chef. Looking over his uncommon Road train he can see that it can be upgraded. Depending on the materials he uses he can increase its various functions.
The portable workshop is for TYrs' personal use. The portable workshop allows players to access the tools they need to create items on the road. Tyr plans to use this to always be able to grow his Sovereign skill. satisfied with his purchase. Tyr goes to Medium Bunz to receive a list of materials needed. Happily, she hands the list and shows him to his catamaran.
Tyr says, "It's not mine it belongs to the Reef Guild run by my Naga friend. He hasn't registered yet but the process should b soon." The guild registration takes so long because the Union has to send a runner to deliver the notice and bring back a guild formation document. This usually takes about a day.
Medium Bunz says, "Alright anyways it's almost ready just need to get a sealing bottle." The sealing bootle is a standard enchanted bottle used to carry ocean-going vessels like rafts, sailboats and warships.
Tyr buys up all the material he can in town from the NPCs this is to give the players stuff to do while they go hunting for designs and recipes and other valuable goodies. He has spent seventy-five of his remaining hundred silver. Then head to his Road train to check it out. In the front are six wild dogs. Each dog has bright black fur and bright brown eyes. They are as big as a Belgian draft and almost as muscular. These massive hounds are captured by the union and sold to the association.
"Hey, you there!" A man with many folds of at comes up to him and continues..." I will give a hundred thousand credits for this Raod train. IT is much better than a normal carriage." Of course, Tyr has no intention of selling.
Tyr says, "Sorry Man it's not for sale." The man snaps his fingers and several players appear from the crowd around the train and surround him. It's clear what they intend to door.
