Chapter 202 He Can Cook?
Reva slowly turned her head and looked at Damien, "You are the one who requested the 'extra class', right?"
Damien smiled as he walked towards the table, "But you know for whom I requested, right? It's fine if you don't want to admit it. I don't mind," Damien said with a playful smirk.
Reva crinkled her eyes as she knew what he meant and said while glancing away, "I don't understand what you mean. Come, sit. I don't have time to waste."
"Sure." Damien whimsically smirked.
He continued as he sat down, "You know I once knew a cold girl like you. She was my friend as well, a very close one. Whenever I see you, you strangely remind me of her. She was very focused on what she does and indifferent to others. But I could understand why she was like that. Her father was very cruel on her, and well...rest is history."
Reva could feel the nostalgia in Damien's words as if he was reminiscing about someone real and not a made-up person.
For some reason, she got intrigued and asked, "Where is she now?"
Damien sighed as his eyes became glazed, "She has gone to some other place. I have no idea where she is now. I hope she is happy wherever she is now."
Reva observed Damien's eyes and wondered if Damien was talking about a dead person.
"What happened to her family? How did she escape from her father's clutches?" Reva asked as she inadvertently leaned her body forward.
Damien raised his brows as he felt that Reva was strangely curious and more talkative.
However, he answered, "That's simple. I helped her escape."
"How?" Reva asked as her brows pulled together.
"I killed her father and set her free," Damien replied nonchalantly without blinking as he maintained his gaze with Reva.
Reva was perplexed by his uncanny answer as she didn't expect him to say something like that.
But she saw how he answered with a straight face, and his eyes seemed as if he was telling the truth.
Damien saw Reva's confused expression and asked casually, "Why do you find it surprising? She was my friend and isn't it normal to help out your friends when they need you? Even if it were you, I would have done the same thing."
Reva was shocked to hear his words and said with knit brows, "Don't say anything like that to anyone else. What you just said can be considered sedition. How can you be so fearless about such things? I could even put you in trouble for saying something like that about my father."
Damien remained unfazed and softly chuckled, "But I never said anything about your father. All I meant was that since you are a friend to me, I would do my best to help you in case you had any trouble. And if you really want to seize me for treason, you would have done it already then. So princess, do you want to be free?"
Reva glanced away and arranged the jade scrolls in front of her as she said coolly, "I don't understand what you are talking about. I am already free."
Damien stretched his hands, "Alright, if you say so." But he didn't fail to notice the complicated expression that appeared momentarily on her face.
Although Reva was going through the jade scrolls in her hand, she strangely found herself thinking about Damien's words.
She wondered if the story Damien told about his friend was true, including the fact that he killed her father.
"You know, let me have some snacks. It's been a while since I had the time to have evening snacks. I hope you don't mind. We can discuss as I eat." Without waiting for Reva's reply, Damien took out a basket of snacks he made himself.
Reva didn't mind it, and when she saw the basket of snacks, she was surprised why it looked strangely different from the snacks she knew.
However, as her nose caught a whiff of the snacks placed near her, she was surprised by how savory it seemed.
Her eyes were glued to the basket as she curiously looked at two slices of wheat placed together with some vegetable filling in the middle. She wondered what kind of a snack it was.
Damien smiled as he saw Reva cutely eyeing his snack basket like a curious rabbit.
After coming to this world, he found that the food here was not exactly the same as in his previous life, especially the snacks.
So he thought of using his cooking skills to practice and make his own snacks after buying the necessary ingredients. Even Valentina loved his cooking and would gobble them up as if she had been famished for months.
He felt that it would take him some time to get used to the food people usually make in this world even though they were tasty in a different way.
Damien pushed the basket towards her and said, "You can take one."
Reva waved her hand, "No, thank you. I don't eat snacks, nor am I hungry."
Damien insisted, "Oh, come on. You won't get fat if you eat this. After all we all have cultivation. Trust me. If you don't eat this, then you are missing out on one of my heavenly creations. You don't wanna regret this later."
Heavenly creation?...
She was not surprised that he was too proud of his own cooking but the fact that he made these snacks with his own hands.
When did men in this world ever even cook a meal, let alone a small snack?
If anyone saw a man cooking, they would immediately look down upon him and ridicule him for doing something women are supposed to do. Or they would think that man was a wastrel without having any talent for anything useful, thus having to resort to cooking.
Only these two views were mostly present in the people of this world, and Reva was surprised that Damien didn't even feel the least bit embarrassed by bragging about his 'heavenly creation' to her.
In fact, it seemed like he was proud of his cooking and couldn't wait to show off.
However, unlike most in this world, she didn't look down on the fact that he cooks food. But instead, she was slightly astonished that he had such a side to him.
As Damien pushed the basket closer towards her, the delectable smell of the snack wafted through her nose, tempting her to at least try a bite. She had never felt such temptation for food or at least the fascination to try a bite.
*growwl~*
Reva's cheeks flushed as she unwittingly placed her hand on her stomach. She looked sneakily at Damien's face and saw him playfully smiling at her.
She squeezed her eyes shut, thinking why her stomach had to let out the sound of hunger pangs before Damien.
She never felt so embarrassed before in her life and wondered why her stomach couldn't have chosen a better timing.
"Reva, I didn't know you were controlling your hunger. Tsk, tsk, only if you had told me, I could have brought you even more snacks. It seems like you have been focusing too much on your cultivation and alchemy that you must not have eaten for months. Even if you lie, your stomach won't." Damien chuckled with a grin.
"N-No, I didn't…" Reva said in a low voice with a downturned head.
Damien was amused by her reaction, which was a fresh change from her usual aloof expression, "Okay, then it seems like your stomach doesn't share the same opinion as you. Still, you should satisfy your poor stomach. Take one and eat—no need to feel shy. If you need a reason to eat, then let me tell you that this 'burger' is beneficial for your cultivation. I have mixed certain herbs as some of the ingredients so that at least we would gain something out of what we eat."
Being persuaded by Damien, she felt that it wouldn't hurt to try a single bite and thought that it would be beneficial to her cultivation.
She was also surprised that Damien already coined a term for the snack he made. She moved her hand slowly and took a slice.
Damien smiled as he saw Reva parting her lovely pink lips to take a small bite from a side of the burger.
