Chapter 541 - Live Like A Prince Or Die As A Traitor?
The Xeton Emperor didn't even say or do anything as he turned his head back straight, as if the things happening down below were none of his concern, even if it was his empire's own imperial army.
The golden armor commander could only swallow his saliva and see his own men getting bullied by this frightening water swan in the sky, and even his own individual attacks were getting swallowed by it.
He had no idea what his emperor was thinking or why he was appearing indifferent to everything, but he knew he shouldn't question him if he cared about his measly life.
Irene went up in the sky with her staff before sitting atop the huge water swan she had manifested and then looked at the Xeton Emperor, straight in the eye, "Ruthren…it is not wise to continue this battle any longer. Call off your army, and both our sides will benefit from it. Otherwise, this is all meaningless."
The men in the imperial army gasped, seeing that this frail old woman called their emperor by his name but knowing the centuries-long enmity these two shared, it was understandable.
The Xeton Emperor rubbed his chin as he looked at Irene and asked calmly, "Beneficial for both sides? Or your side specifically? Give me Triton, and I will let you all live…for now."
His voice seemed quiet yet loud enough for everyone to hear, including Damien and Reva, who couldn't help but look at each other.
Damien clenched his fists, realizing that Ruthren didn't even care about destroying the Forsaken anymore since he might have already considered it finished, and now he only wanted to get his daughter back for reasons which Damien felt might not be so good, considering how even Yohr was trying to exploit her and might have if not for him showing up before.
Even if he was her father and not the father Reva deserved, Damien couldn't stand when someone wanted to take away his woman forcibly, even if it was their own family.
So while working on the ethereal formations, he said in a voice that was calm yet loud enough for everyone to hear, "Ruthren, go back now, and I will remember not to kill you all in the future as a favor," As he said these words, Damien turned his head to look at Ruthren briefly before continuing his business.
It was as if he was threatening some random nobody outside the barrier.
Damien's words brought down pin drop silence across the region as everyone was stumped to see a young man blatantly insulting and threatening not only the Xeton Emperor himself but the entire empire as well.
Was he just tired of living, or did he have a death wish? Or was he just too dumb to not realize how tiny he was before the emperor?
Irene also couldn't help but glance at Damien with a hint of astonishment in her eyes but subtly smile since things couldn't get any worse anyway, and she had never seen anybody who was ever bold enough to insult Ruthren right at his face.
Ruthren's expression didn't change, but for a moment, his brows slightly twitched in displeasure. Usually, for someone like him, he need not be bothered about what ants talk to each other.
But this 'ant' dared to look at his face and insult him before everyone, which was not something he ever had to face in his entire life. It felt no more than like a slap to his face.
Reva couldn't help but look at Damien with a look of disbelief since he just openly insulted Ruthren and couldn't help getting worried about him pulling Ruthren's attention to himself.
Damien looked back at her and reassured with her eyes as he said mentally, "We are already neck-deep in his radar. It's only fair we let him know that we are not weaklings as he thinks before trying to kill us, not that I will let anything happen to you. Don't worry."
Damien, however, was not really joking about what he said. After defeating and even absorbing the power of a true god, his thinking had slowly transcended from that of an ordinary mortal being.
If he could play a major role in defeating Yohr, then how could killing a mortal emperor be impossible?
Of course, Damien knew that he was not powerful enough now to deal with someone like Ruthren, but he had already planned to kill him in the future once he got strong enough, and he felt that the day was not too far, considering how much power he had gained over a small time frame.
The only hesitation Damien had was that Ruthren was Reva's father, and he had no idea how she would feel about seeing her father die.
"Damien…isn't it? Since you are a young, ambitious man, I will consider what you just said as a child's attempt to get back at the adult. But if you come with me, I will give my daughter's hand-in-marriage to you, and I can even pardon the crimes you are committing right now in the name of your immaturity. It has come to my attention that my daughter holds an ocean of feelings for you, and as her father, I can't help but do something about it. So…do you want to doom yourself by staying within that barrier, helping people that were even forsaken by the gods, or come with me and live like a prince? I am sure that would be better for my daughter as well," Ruthren acted as if the previous insult Damien threw at him was insignificant, and everyone else was shocked that the Xeton Emperor was trying to bring Damien to his side?!
Some didn't even recognize Damien until they got a closer look, considering the physical changes he had undergone, and became even more shocked since he was the famous Lightning Prince of the Xeton Ethereal Foundation.
But how the fuck did he gain enough favor from not only the Ethereal Fairy but also her father for him to personally invite him to marry his daughter? And this is after Damien even insulted him before everyone. When did their emperor become so magnanimous, or was he just desperate to bring Damien to his side?
However, Damien only frowned hearing his words since he was one of the few who understood the true meaning behind Ruthren's words.
