Chapter 575 - Anton Vahn
Chapter 575 – Anton Vahn
Damien and Reva looked at each other and immediately communicated their opinion to each other with just their eyes as they nodded and then looked at the ethereal figure of Anton.
"No," Both of them said at the same time. It was as if they didn't even hesitate. But both had a good reason behind their answer.
After all, even their ancestors who explored the outside world in the past came back in very few numbers, and the ones who survived had lost their minds.
They surely weren't going to risk going out just to see how things had changed. They also didn't have any group of people prepared to lead an expedition or anything.
The only other people on the island were two old people, and only one of them was a powerful cultivator. But even then, Damien and Reva felt that it was far from the optimal case.
Anton closed his eyes upon hearing his answer and said, "The answer is just as I guessed, and this was merely a test to see if you were prudent enough to take the right decision. But remember…come back here anytime you feel that you are ready, and I will be the judge of that. I built a crack in the barrier and sealed it with my own body so that I could let people cross the barrier even after my death…if they were ready. Since my three friends separated to different places with the keys, I felt that it might be hard to open the barrier in the future. However, I was the one who built this barrier, and so I left a small backdoor just in case. Now…I will let you return wherever you came from."
Saying so, Anton waved his hands as both Reva and Damien's bodies flashed before disappearing from the empty black space.
The next moment, the two found themselves standing on the shores of the island and looking at each other with blinking expressions.
It was as if they were trying to process what they just saw, and after getting a glimpse of the mysterious outside world, they now understood why their ancestors took great measures to separate their continent from the outside world.
"We have to tell your grandparents what just happened. Let's see what they have to say about this," Damien said as he looked at Reva, who also nodded, feeling the same.
The two immediately took off and flew towards the small cottage.
Elor was helping Irene eat some medicine when they heard Damien and Reva land outside in a hurry.
"It seems like these two are in a hurry to tell us something. Probably that they want to marry soon, hoho," Elor said with a happy chuckle, making Irene softly smile as she shook her head helplessly.
And just as Damien and Reva came in, Elor was surprised to see their strange expressions, "What brings you two here in a hurry? Is there something you two want to say to us?" Elor asked with a knowing smile.
"Yes…we just saw something shocking…" Damien said with a sigh, making Irene and Elor look at each other with puzzled expressions.
Reva then quickly explained to them what happened when a white crack suddenly appeared on the barrier the moment she touched it.
"There was a crack on the barrier…and inside that, you two met our ancestor…oh my god…" Irene mumbled with quivering eyes.
Whereas, Elor had a stunned expression, not expecting his earliest ancestor who came here to really have used his own corpse to seal the crack.
"Ha…the black space you both describe was probably a personal dimension or a space that cultivators can create within their bodies to store things just like how a spatial ring would. But they are more than just a spatial ring in the sense that they can be used in various ways, just like how you two saw. Seeing the memories, he left behind while even conversing with a fragment of his soul memory. Sigh, you two are indeed blessed to have the fortune to meet such a powerful and respectable figure. All my life, I had dreamed about knowing more about Anton Vahn, our ancestor who led the survivors here," Elor said as he quickly offered his respects to the dead.
It seemed like he truly worshiped and respected his ancestor.
"But I am worried about what they saw. Since those were the memories of our ancestors, it must be indeed true that the outside world is not a place humans like us can live. But I never knew that in the ancient past, it was such a beautiful and prosperous city that looked nothing like our own. I wish I could see this city that seemed even more magnificent and grand than even the Xeton Empire or the Zirian Empire in the past. Still, now that I mentioned the Xeton Empire, we must make sure Ruthren never gets to open the barrier along with the other three empires. We must stop them all somehow," Irene said with firm determination in her eyes.
She already had lost enough, and now she sure as hell wasn't going to lose the only people she had just because of a foolish decision made by the rulers of these four empires.
"Does that mean we should go out there now and stop Ruthren?" Damien asked since he didn't know if going outside now was a good idea, especially when there was too much heat on him and Reva.
Irene looked at Damien and Reva as she said, "No. You two stay here for some time till I get information that things have calmed down a bit on the outside. I had teleported the others to somewhere else safe, and I am sure they will gather information for us. We also have to first know whether the other three empires would even agree to Ruthren's foolish wish to open the barrier. If we move against Ruthren without knowing that, then it would be suicidal."
"Then let's use this time to prepare ourselves and our people for what's coming," Damien said with narrowed eyes.
