Chapter 150: Second World: Powerful Marshal vs Tiny Chilli

After an eternity of summoning his courage, Qie Ranzhe finally spoke two words in total. "Am sorry," he said with a downcast expression his fingers tightly grasping the glass till his finger tips paled.

Wen Qinxi didn't respond for a while taking out all the ingredients he needed to make lunch. He casually placed ginger and garlic in front of the Marshal and gave him instructions. "Cut that to strips and mince that," he said pointing at the ingredients before handing him the kitchen utensils.

Qie Ranzhe was confused but he didn't pressure Zhao Xieshu obediently standing up to assist him though he had no idea what he was doing. He had never cooked anything his entire life and didn't even know the difference between garlic and ginger but his omega asked and he would do anything to please him.

Wen Qinxi watched the perplexed Marshal from the corner of his eye and wanted to laugh but he suppressed the urge by pressing his lips together while cutting a chicken breast to bite size. He soon finished marinating the chicken but Qie Ranzhe was still studying the garlic as though looking at some intimidating creature. The Marshal was preparing to go to war with this funny looking vegetable when Wen Qinxi walked over to him and took the garlic out of his hand.

Qie Ranzhe made way for him standing next to him as he watched Zhao Xieshu's gracious slender fingers peel the ginger skin before demonstrating the size of strips he expected from the Marshal. Qie Ranzhe was listening but his mind couldn't help but stray his eyes riveting to Zhao Xieshu's ear with blonde strands brushing against it. His eyes followed the blonde strands to their tips that were grazing the pheromone gland at back of Zhao Xieshu's neck. It was then that his mind wander in another direction imagining how sweet Zhao Xieshu's scent would smell like when a knife suddenly stabbed the cutting board jolting him out of his trance.

"Are you even listening?" asked Wen Qinxi who was already demonstrating how to peel garlic and use a contraption foreign to the Marshal.

"Mn.....I am," his brows knitted together when he saw the knife that had been stabbed into the cutting board. This was extremely dangerous. He didn't want Zhao Xieshu doing such trivial yet lethal things by himself. But Wen Qinxi interpreted his expression as fear of being stabbed by him.

"What?...You afraid I might stab you where you stand?" he asked feeling downhearted knowing Qie Ranzhe didn't trust despite everything.

"No...I am afraid you might hurt yourself," he said nervously biting his lower lip. Wen Qinxi almost sold himself out as a nice feeling whirled up within him uplifting his spirit.

"Finish this, I need it now," he said heading towards the fridge to cool his heated face. After a long struggle, Qie Ranzhe finally finished preparing the ingredients in crude manner unique to only him.

Wen Qinxi had already finished deep frying the chicken when Qie Ranzhe came over presenting his shabby yet heart-felt work as though seeking praise. Wen Qinxi didn't feel the need to oblige him and simply nodded while taking out a wok to stir fry. The Marshal was still in the dog house and people in the dog house don't deserve praise.

He took Qie Ranzhe's masterpiece and tossed it into the wok together with some suchuan peppercorn and spring onions while gesturing to Qie Ranzhe to sit down.

The Marshal wasn't as hurt when Zhao Xieshu didn't praise him for a job well done he was just happy that at least the prince was including him. What he didn't know was that his punishment was yet to come.

As a delicatable fragrance waft from the wok, he added the deep fried chicken bits and a tiny amount of water allowing the flavors to infuse with chicken for a couple of minutes before serving it over some white rice and garnishing the dish with sesame seeds.

He brought over two bowls placing one in front of Qie Ranzhe and the other right next to him that is before he went to get a glass of milk. The Marshal was so happy patiently waiting for Zhao Xieshu to come back. He had never imagined the prince to be a caring kind-hearted omega with a magnimous side but boy was he wrong.

"What dish is this?" asked a curious Qie Ranzhe poking at the chicken with his chopsticks when Wen Qinxi sat down on the next bar stool placing the glass of milk on the kitchen counter.

"Eat," was Wen Qinxi's response with a pair of chopsticks in his hand. Qie Ranzhe obediently took a mouthful only to have his face turn red in an instant. Wen Qinxi had made spicy szechuen chicken with a good amount of red chillis which was Qie Ranzhe's baine. He had used the same method to deal with Wen Danzhe and boy did it feel good.

Qie Ranzhe wanted to spit it out but Wen Qinxi closed his mouth while threatening him, "You better swallow it otherwise I will really blacklist you for ten years."

The threat worked as the Marshal swallowed with great difficulty his tongue literally on fire, his gorgeous phoenix eyes bloodshot streaming with tears. His mouth felt like a tiny star had gone supernova in his mouth.

In haste, Qie Ranzhe stood up and grabbed a glass to drink some water. Wen Qinxi wanted to stop him but the alpha's actions were too swift. He had already drunk a mouthful when Wen Qinxi said, "That will only make it worse."

The fiery burning sensation worsened but Qie Ranzhe wanted to drink more. Just as he was about fill up another glass, Wen Qinxi grasped his hand with a glass of milk in his other hand gesturing to Qie Ranzhe to take it.

Qie Ranzhe's heart softened when he saw that beautiful comforting smile on Zhao Xieshu's face. The burning sensation in his mouth didn't seem severe anymore. He accepted the glass of milk and instantly felt relief with just one sip. "Thank you," he said as Wen took out a separate bowl without chilli struggling to suppress his laughter.

Wen Qinxi replaced Qie Ranzhe bowl but when he saw the look of hesitation in the Marshal's eyes he said, "This doesn't have chilli, I promise," beckoning him to sit down. The Marshal trusted him once and ended up getting burnt so he only sat after filling the glass with milk to the brim. His first bite was so cautious that Wen Qinxi couldn't hold back anymore laughing himself to tears. Qie Ranzhe smiled helplessly when he realised it wasn't spiked with chilli sincerely thanking him.

"Now we are even," said Wen Qinxi resuming to eat his food, "so you want to tell me what happened that day?"
