The music video was released, and Chronos had delivered and defied expectations in both the song and concept as they always did. On top of that, the views on their latest music video absolutely exploded, solidly marking the group's rise in the K-POP scene.

The Rings who always claimed to know Chronos better than even YMM saw this coming from a mile away. Even without flashy marketing, Chronos had been steadily gaining international fans through their dance challenges, a totally unique universe setting, and killer performances.

As people said, the more you spent, the more you gained. YMM's generously funded music videos had always enjoyed a special marketing impact.

Also, Chronos had toured across various locations in the US with Again After Rainfall. They especially gained a lot of interest during the festival on the final day of shooting. The explosive rise in views within just thirty minutes of their latest music video upload was proof of this. Both domestic and international reactors took this opportunity to highlight Chronos's music video, street performances, and previous stages, kicking off what had been dubbed a 'Chronos marathon.'

This group had been frequently mentioned recently, and that alone was reason enough to pay attention to their videos. With twenty-three million views in twenty-four hours, the scale of attention from K-POP fans around the world was unprecedented.

The members felt it, and so did the Rings. As Jin-Sung said, Suh Hyun-Woo's visuals were especially outstanding, and Goh Yoo-Joon captured the heavy atmosphere of the entire music video well.

There were also complaints about the limited screen time given to Kang Joo-Han. Other Rings were breathless over Park Yoon-Chan's running and found Jin-Sung's acting to be refreshingly better than his usual performances. The consensus was unanimous satisfaction with the video's aesthetics and visuals.

Many people awaited the interpretation of the music video. Since this music video featured many meaningful scenes, the enthusiasm was there. Multiple interpretation videos and articles were posted around three days after the video was released.

[Chronos] Phantom Spirit Music Video Interpretation Guess

Following “Parade” and “Joy,” I've also written down my interpretation of the “Phantom Spirit" music video! It was honestly a bit confusing and difficult, so I thought about giving up at some point, but it seemed like everyone was waiting for my interpretation and I wanted to see it through with love.

I've tried my best to interpret it... But remember, these are all just my personal speculations and guesses! This is not official!

Let's start!

Quotes so far:

Hide and Seek

He is not a friend

I will come find you after graduation

It's too late when you realize it

Ignore him

In the previous interpretation of “Joy," I mentioned that this might be derived from a Neapolitan urban legend. Pay attention to "Ignore him” and “He is not a friend." If you look at the last concept photo of "Joy..."

This one! I think this is a hint. We already know from the past music videos that Jin-Sung is not human. So the ‘he’ in those quotes refers to Jin-Sung. They are saying to ignore Jin-Sung, but the photo shows Hyun-Woo and Jin-Sung together. Hyun-Woo did not ignore Jin-Sung. I think this is the start of the story.

1. Hyun-Woo did not ignore Jin-Sung.

2. So Jin-Sung intended to take Hyun-Woo after his graduation (= “I will come find you after graduation.”).

3. Hyun-Woo didn’t know about this and introduced Jin-Sung to his club friends (his fellow members).

4. Time passes and it's the graduation ceremony for Joo-Han and Yoo-Joon.

On the night of the graduation, Joo-Han and Yoo-Joon did not ignore Jin-Sung like Hyun-Woo, so Jin-Sung took Joo-Han away first.

After two years, the story moves to the first video of this series, "Parade." Yoo-Joon has become a proper working adult after graduation. In the beginning of “Parade,” you see Hyun-Woo in a place full of clocks working on something.

Hyun-Woo is researching to go to the world where Jin-Sung is to find his friend Joo-Han. (Yoon-Chan is in a school uniform but Hyun-Woo is not, perhaps he has dropped out of school...)

He successfully completes his research and crosses over to that world, but he ends up being caught by Jin-Sung.

From here!!! The stories of “Parade” and “Phantom Spirit” start to intertwine. In the “Phantom Spirit” music video, there's this scene.

I think this is exactly the early scene in “Phantom Spirit” where Yoo-Joon wrote on the blackboard 'He betrayed us'. Hyun-Woo was trying to save Joo-Han but got caught and, as seen in the last part of “Phantom Spirit,” decides to betray his friends to escape with Joo-Han. He holds hands with Jin-Sung and plans to leave his other two friends, Yoo-Joon and Yoon-Chan.

In “Phantom Spirit,” we see the scene where Hyun-Woo takes Jin-Sung's place.

And this is where it all begins. Then comes Yoon-Chan's graduation ceremony. (Nothing special about this, but since it was said 'I will come find you after graduation,’ maybe Hyun-Woo can bring Jin-Sung only at graduation ceremonies? Haha... It’s just my speculation).

In “Parade,” Hyun-Woo sends a rescue signal to the two. Yoo-Joon and Yoon-Chan are caught in Hyun-Woo's snare and come to the school at night. The first to be caught is Yoo-Joon, but he graduated two years ago. For reasons unknown, he realizes that this is a trap and it seems like he realized it too late.

He notices that he has fallen into a trap because the sky is already pastel-colored. This school is now the domain of Jin-Sung and Hyun-Woo.

So he resigns himself and gives Yoon-Chan a hint (writing on the blackboard that 'He betrayed us') before stepping into that world himself.

Meanwhile, Yoon-Chan is also caught in Hyun-Woo's snare, and he tries hard to escape.

However, as Yoon-Chan’s graduation approaches, Jin-Sung, who left the world to Hyun-Woo, comes to capture him personally. Then, it ends with Yoon-Chan being caught.

Hyun-Woo successfully completes his mission of making a new friend for Jin-Sung, betrays his old friends, and manages to escape with Joo-Han.

The two return to reality while the rest disappear into another world.

Although Hyun-Woo feels guilty, he decides to bear all he has done for his hyung. They burn the others’ name tags to bury this incident in their memories, and the music video ends.

Phew... It's finally over... This interpretation was particularly very hard... With this, the Neapolitan music video series must be completely finished, I guess? It was fascinating and visually pleasing, so it's a shame that we can’t watch another music video like this one. But I have no doubt that the next concept will exceed our expectations!
