Chapter 495 New Goal?
"Are you abandoning your comrade right now?!" Marie asked in disbelief as she watched her brother ordering the Red Dragon to fly away.
"My comrade?... Ah you mean the Ice Demoness. She was not really my comrade and will return to her own realm in less than ten minutes," Dilan waved off his hand before he added, "The Ice Demoness will do what we've asked her to do and she will leave afterward."
Dilan was not worried about the Ice Demoness's well-being. He was certain that she would be fine and that she would kill everyone, who was at fault for Marie's pain and suffering.
That was more than enough for Dilan to calm down a little.
Marie didn't seem to think in the same way but she was way too focused on looking at her younger brother that she forgot to voice out her opinion.
"You grew up a lot," She mumbled, and Dilan nodded his head.
"I've probably grown more than 15 centimeters since we were separated. I'm finally taller than you!" He exclaimed with a bright smile on his face and teased her. Dilan felt the calmest ever since the Primordial Ascension had occurred. He knew that Lara was doing somewhat fine and now that Marie was with him everything seemed to be perfect.
The tension in his body slowly decreased and he was starting to feel better than ever before. Nobody was able to overwhelm or bully him anymore and he could do whatever he pleased, whenever he wanted to. This feeling and the fact that those he held dearly were doing fine was the best and he slumped down on Rory's back.
There were no clouds in the sky and most aerial monsters avoided flying at Rory's altitude, let alone being close to a full-fledged western Dragon. It was only obvious that most monsters would maintain distance from them, and that was what gave them the necessary peace and a clear mind to talk about what happened in the course of the last few years.
"Dad went ballistic when you ran away, but he couldn't release his anger on us. After all, he had already found suitable marriage partners for us. On that day he probably killed half of the present staff...that lunatic…
Only a few months passed before both Lara and I were told to move into the house of our husbands, without getting to know them, let alone meeting them even once before we were married off to them…
Lara was married to Clark Mekaz, the youngest Marshal in history, and born into a military family. Their family is extremely influential but they're not arrogant in the slightest. Apparently, Lara is still happy and she actually fell in love with Clark…I'm happy that she found love and as long as she can smile at every situation that unfolds in front of her, everything will be fine for that little fighter…
Meanwhile, I was forced to marry to….this piece of shit of a weapon manufacturing firm CEO…he…" Marie stopped speaking at once. She had to take a few deep breaths to calm her wildly beating heart, and she bit on her lower lip so hard that she started bleeding.
Right now, she was finally freed from all the suffering she had undergone from the moment she could think, but that didn't turn the past into something that never happened and wipe out all the pain.
The memories of every single thing that had happened in the last few years were deeply imprinted in her heart and mind!
Thus, her first thought after crying her heart out was to curse everything and everyone for the shit they had done to her.
Dilan enjoyed seeing this side of Marie and he hoped that she would stay like this. It felt like the chains that had been dragging her to the ground had burst open, and that she was finally able to spread her wings and soar high into the sky to adventure through the vast world.
Nonetheless, the reason for her curses was sad and angering, and Dilan's expression hardened once again.
'I will make sure that you guys will have the best present and future you could imagine!' Dilan swore in his mind, knowing deep down that his promise was not something he could keep easily.
After all, to make sure that his sisters would always be safe and live a perfect life without worries, he was basically forced to be the undisputed king of Milarn.
Only that way would it be possible to control the Gates and races trying to act funny on Milarn.
'That is definitely an ambitious goal,' Dilan figured but instead of feeling as if the goal he had in mind was impossible, he felt the desire to accomplish it. It was something that was worth working toward…the safety of those he held dear… and to beat the asses of those who annoyed him!'
Dilan liked the feeling of being strong. Thus, he would have never stopped working hard to increase his stats and advance in the ranks.
But his sisters were definitely a stronger driving force than his desire for strength which had originated from the sole purpose of being able to fight any kind of opponent.
"This piece of shit you were once married to should be dead by now, and you will never see him again, don't worry," Dilan said with a faint smile on his lips. He reached out his hand and held Marie's trembling hand without a second of hesitation.
Dilan was not at the age where he had to hold his sister's hand to feel better as it had been a long time ago when misfortune after misfortune knocked on their doors, but it was now his job to make sure that his sister would feel better.
He was not good at consoling someone, but he knew that his presence alone was already enough to make a difference. Being alone and knowing that there was a shoulder to cry, and rely on made a shocking difference.
"Let's visit Lara and see if she is really doing fine, and then we will take a look at what to do in the future," Dilan said after a few minutes. He hoped that Lara would come with him instead of staying in Arikan, where dangers lurked in every corner.
Unfortunately, it was very unlikely for Lara to leave her new family now that she had found a safe haven. Dilan understood this very well, but it made things quite complicated.
'Staying the Overlord in Camsun is much easier than trying to protect a bunch of faraway places…and the piece of shit that is unfortunately our father is also in Arikan…' He thought, feeling slightly distressed when he thought about convincing Lara to move someplace else.
"Do you think her family would move with her if I show them how terrifying true power can be?" Dilan asked a moment later, without leaving Marie the time to think about Dilan's earlier words.
"Visiting Lara shouldn't be a problem. They're living even further away from the state father has constructed after the Primordial Ascension occurred. Though, I'm not sure whether Lara and her family would move just because you demand it from them…whether you demonstrate your power or not," Marie spoke quietly, not certain if her words were of any help.
"Not even Rory's appearance would be enough to convince them that you can protect them better than they can!" She said with a little bit more confidence than before.
"In that case, showing them powers that exceed the mortal norms might be enough…that's enough for me to know!
