Chapter 203 Alchemy (2)
Eventually, Jake caught up with the enemies, and they truly were heading toward the last room of the dungeon. He had assumed that all the bosses that had a minimal amount of intelligence would be warriors like Vare, but it seemed that Jake was wrong. One didn't have to be brave or fierce to become a boss… he had no idea what the requirements were. Still, the remaining three mummies sure were cowards… they even left some of their bandages behind to grab him and slow Jake down. Still, they were destroyed by Jake's sword enhanced with normal flames.
When Jake caught up with them, he saw an army of mummies approaching as well. They were just normal ones, so they wouldn't be much of a problem. Still, they became more annoying when all of them used Gravity at the same time in order to give a chance to the bosses to escape.
While clicking his tongue, Jake used Boomerang Shield and made it bounce on the walls to hit as many enemies as possible. Once the gravity magic was weakened, Jake charged toward the enemies and impaled all of them in quick succession after making them explode with explosive touch.
In any case, the monsters bought enough time, and then the bosses indeed reached the last part of they even touched the crystal, but Jake impaled their backs after throwing his sword and shield. As if he would let them escape after causing so much trouble to him. The power of his attacks had decreased since he only used one arm each, but at least it made the monsters let go of the purple crystal that began to glow a little but then stopped.
Jake used his dark flames to wound both of them to make sure they wouldn't do anything else. The monsters grunted in pain while their bodies were being consumed by the flames. Jake managed to finish them off with only that because he was pretty pissed and because the enemies had suffered a lot of damage before as well.

Jake got even more pissed when he realized those fuckers didn't even drop a single item… five bosses, and they didn't drop anything… how stingy could they be? Before Jake could complain, he was teleported back to his base.

Jake got satisfied when he obtained a class that was better than the others he had, but he frowned when he saw the skill… it had potential. Still, it would take a while before it could really reach its potential. Fortunately, his rewards didn't end there.

Now the second class was a lot better… even though the skill granted by it could only be used now and then. In any case, Jake was always looking for ways to improve his attack power, so it was fine. The reward for the extra quest was fine indeed… Jake got satisfied, and then all the exhaustion accumulated on his body made him feel like he was about to die.
"What an ordeal… even though I deserve all of this pain and exhaustion for dashing ahead without thinking of retreating, it is a pain," Jake thought. "In any case… should I return to that world and look for the assholes that set me up?"
It would take a while for Jake to reach the dungeon, and in the meantime, the enemies would have the chance to leave. Moreover, they were pretty good at hiding and watching their enemies, so he probably won't find them. It was a pain in the ass… Jake wondered if he should contact Luke or Frederick to talk about that incident while he was heading home to tend his wounds and repair his gear. The same thing could happen to their allies, so they should be wary of those forced dungeon breaks.
"They are working in groups, so I suppose they will be fine. Also, they shouldn't have been warned about this kind of thing and must have taken the right countermeasures against it," Jake thought. "I only have to worry about what I should do with those guys. Considering that they attacked me first many times, they kept doing it and acting like I got in their way from the very beginning. They aren't exactly wrong, though."
Jake could tell that the same thing would repeat itself many times. Still, it wasn't like he could forget everything and focus on hunting those guys. After considering things for a while, Jake thought that he should find the base of the leaders of the criminals to deal with them. That should make things easier… Even if he severs one head of the Hydra and another takes its place, as long as he makes his point that the others can't defeat him, they should leave him alone.
"The only problem is that the leaders had two months of advantage to explore the system and the quests…" Jake thought. "I might be progressing faster than most, but I am not sure about them."
