Chapter 232 - Eliminating A Love Rival
Ji Yao's eyes flashed with emotion as he squeezed Rui Fei's hand. He was terrified, terrified of Rui Fei misunderstanding him but how can one explain this?
He knew what he wanted to say but the words couldn't arrange themselves in his mind properly so he ended up shaking his head while rubbing Rui Fei's hand with his thumb.
Rui Fei whose eyes were red on the brink of tears sighed with a nervous laugh as he said, "I knew it. It was just lying to me. So this compatibility thing was all a lie..... haha ha I am so relieved." As he said this his facial expression visibly relaxed as he lowered his eyes.
But when he felt Ji Yao tighten his hold on his hand Rui Fei's muscles tensed up again and his heart sank. "It's.... it's, it's true. I... I can't touch anyone besides you... it's my nature, I..., he said but Rui Fei's hand slipped down off Ji Yao's face his expression distraught like he had been stabbed with a sharp knife.
He took a few steps backwards before crouching down on the ground looking like a heartbroken lonely child abandoned in the cold dark prison again. All that warmth he had felt from before suddenly felt illusory.
He couldn't help but chastise himself. Why did he have to ask a question he didn't want an answer to? Wouldn't it have been better if he just continued deluding himself? At least that way the answer wouldn't be definite and he could continue enjoying the love and care from this person.
Couldn't he just continue as though Ji Yao's words were never spoken? So what did it matter if Ji Yao was only using him for his body? Wasn't it better than nothing? Wasn't it better than him using someone else? He would rather Ji Yao touch him however he likes as long as he could be with him.
His thoughts ran rampant unravelling his insecurities fully. He was in love with Ji Yao and didn't care what Ji Yao's purpose was for being with him as long as they were together. While thinking this a hand suddenly slid along his thigh jolting him out of his chaotic thoughts.
He raised his head only to see Ji Yao crouching down before him with a solemn look. He rubbed Rui Fei's thigh as he spoke in a soft but stern voice,
"I was never interested in you because of that. I knew I reacted to you differently and I tried to keep you at arm's length but.... you kept coming at me and before I knew it I was in lo-..... I was interested in you."
He raised his hand to wipe away the tear that was slowly creeping at the corner of Rui Fei's eye as he smilingly said, "It just so happened that the one I am interested in is compatible with me not the other way around."
These sugary words did exactly as they should. They soothed this cub who was in turmoil. He was so happy that he even forgot the 'lo-' word that almost came out of Ji Yao's mouth. Ji Yao's words were enough to satisfy him for now.
He pursed his lips and asked, "Don't you hate me? I, I killed Xiaoyu? I... I am a monster." His gaze shifted to the lifeless body on the ground. It seemed Rui Fei hadn't realised that this was one of the illusions conjured by the creature.
Ji Yao wanted to tell him but before he could do that the entire thing collapsed as an explosive force struck the wall. As dust and debris filled the cave that had restored its original appearance a creature bellowed in anger causing the entire cave to shake as though struck by an earthquake.
Rui Fei embraced Ji Yao and both of them came crushing to the ground. He protected Ji Yao's body from the rocks and stones flying at the speed of a bullet. His back was struck a dozen times but he didn't care.
He was more worried about Ji Yao than himself. By the time they opened their eyes Rui Fei was on top of Ji Yao blocking all the rocks from falling on his body.
Ji Yao gazed at him with complex emotions but they didn't have time to savour this precious moment because the creature started tossing things around raging in anger. Before they could even get up it spotted Rui Fei and dashed madly at him.
This brat had stabbed it with its own stinger and viciously ripped it out afterwards. How could it not be pissed? As it rushed over Ji Yao pushed Rui Fei aside to protect him from this vindictive beast.
Unfortunately, he had underestimated this creature. Despite him sending a razor-sharp flame blade it still managed to hit Rui Fei sacrificing one of its legs that was sliced off cleanly by the flame blade.
Rui Fei on the other hand was sent flying through several cave walls till he landed in the water right next to Red Bane. Clutching his chest he struggled to get up but as soon as he got on his feet he heard something coming from the supposed to be empty Red Bane.
He was now caught in between going back to fight alongside Ji Yao or surveying the ship first. Thinking the creature was probably screwing with the ship so they couldn't leave he climbed on board to take a quick look. When he stealthily got on board he found that the captain's cabin had candlelight on.
With his brows furrowed he walked over and pushed the door open only to find the person he just killed earlier rummaging through Ji Yao's stuff. The same woman who he caught in the illusion placing Ji Yao's hand on her boob was now right in front of him defenceless.
He clenched his fist calculating the odds of Ji Yao finding out that he killed Xiaoyu. In a time like this when everyone was facing a vicious creature, she was on Red Bane looking for something. She had gone against Ji Yao's orders so wasn't it reasonable if he kills her?
Sure his reason for killing wouldn't be because she defied Ji Yao's order as he was a rule breaker himself. It would be to eliminate a love rival. He would never have to worry about her flaunting her boobs around trying to seduce his man. Unclenching his fist he said, "What are you doing?"
Xiaoyu who wasn't expecting anyone at the moment jumped in fright as she turned to look at the person. Her frightful expression vanished replaced by a dark expression as she said, "Oh, it's you... You are not dead yet?"
"Hahaha, sorry to disappoint you but I am not the one leaving this place in a coffin today," he said as a ferocious grey fog surrounded his body.
