Chapter 255 - Concordia Section 713
Ji Yao couldn't believe it. He recalled the creature trying to trick him with the very same thing but he would never agree. He was content with having only one person he can be intimate with in this entire lifetime. Rui Fei was enough for him. But at that time he hadn't considered that others like Xiaoyu could get tempted by this offer.
Based on the gazes directed at her Xiaoyu panicked as she slowly watched her ship sink to the bottom of the ocean. She had to come up with a reasonable explanation otherwise she might suffer a fate worse than death.
"I did it for you Yao-ge. I was never going to really give it the keystones, I just.... It was all for you. Your ailment restricts and leaves you in a desperate situation. What if the one you were compatible with was Captain Zhang or Huishe Yue? Would you be with them? Your body is limiting you while blinding your heart. Can't you see?" she said but her heartfelt speech was unfortunately met with resistance.
Zhang Li who had been minding his own business was waving his hands frantically in front of his chest indicating that he didn't want any part of it. Huishe Yue reacted much more strongly coughing violently after almost choking on his delicious melon seeds.
While Lan Wu was patting his back he felt a malicious gaze aimed at him. When he turned to look in that direction he was met by a glare so sharp it could pierce one's soul.
His nephew was a tanker filled with vinegar and at the mere mention of Ji Yao being with others, the result would be that look that could scare grown adults to the point of crying.
"*Cough, *cough I would never do that *cough," he mouthed at the cub to reassure him and encourage him to look at other people. Rui Fei lowered his gaze calming the dark spawn that was threatening to come out.
Meanwhile, Ji Yao was seething with anger and the angrier he got the quieter he became. He was just glaring at her coldly as though staring at a stranger with no ties to him.
Xiaoyu could also see the difference in his eyes. Those eyes that at least held a little warmth towards her had vanished. She knew the risks the moment she decided to make a deal with that creature but she didn't think things would end up like this. Her heart twisted painfully as she broke down in tears. Her thin body quivered as she silently cried with her head lowered in shame.
They weren't close, to begin with as Ji Yao also kept her at an arm's length because he knew her and his father's intentions. Their relationship could have been like that of adopted siblings and he would have sincerely treated her like his little meimei but she wanted more from the very beginning.
The atmosphere was incredibly stifling with so much tension in the air you could cut it with a knife. The killing intent coming from Ji Yao alone was enough to make everyone around him break out in a cold sweat. Lady Ching Sei had never seen Ji Yao this mad before so she could only take charge of the situation.
She gulped while secretly lighting a candle for herself and asked, "Xiaoyu, do you admit your wrongs?" but Xiaoyu didn't respond. Her head was still lowered and her shoulders quivered from the crying.
"*Sigh... according to the concordia section 420 the punishment for lying is twenty fi-," she said but Ji Yao interrupted her saying,
"Section 713," in a cold tone that stabbed straight at everyone's soul.
Lady Ching Sei abruptly turned to face him her complexion as white as a sheet of paper. Zhang Li who hardly familiarized himself with the rule book had to take his copy out from his storage space and read it.
The large book hovered in front of him as he flipped the pages. The newness of that book clearly showed that its owner never opened it. It was devoid of creases or signs of fading looking like a brand new book fresh out of the plastic.
For a moment the only noises in the room were the flipping sounds from the pages being turned which was incredibly loud considering the room was dead silent. As soon as Zhang Li found the page he began to mumble, "7, 1, 3.... 7,....1,3..... there ..... the blah blah treason... blah blah... blah... fuck."
When he found out the punishment he couldn't help but swear which earned him a slap from the lovely lady.
Pa!
Lady Ching Sei smacked him upside his head but the man was smiling foolishly while leering at her. Huishe Yue who was sitting behind them also leaned forward to see what had the two of them rattled but he was getting too close to Zhang Li's shoulder.
Seeing this Lan Wu felt a tad bit annoyed. He wanted to tell him that he can look at his rule book but he was a step too late. So he opted to pull Huishe Yue back and whispered into his ear the punishment for treason or as the pirates called it the unforgivable crime.
Huishe Yue raised his hand to close his mouth when he heard it. His eyes as wide as lightbulbs he stared at Lan Wu in disbelief.
These pirates were incredibly vicious. If it was in his clan the person would have been forced to drink tasteless poison that would end their life peacefully. Okay, not exactly peacefully but still they would die instantly.
Rui Fei was also curious about this punishment but he couldn't bring himself to move. Ji Yao was so upset and Rui Fei wanted to comfort him but if he so much as moved he might get caught up in the crossfire. He was like the kind of wife that gets upset with her husband as well when she is upset with the kids or at least that's what he thought.
Xiaoyu's shoulders froze when she heard the punishment. It seemed she was trying to recall which one that was. She had memorised most of the rules to impress Ji Yao but hadn't truly mastered all of them.
When she figured out what it was she was distraught. She kowtowed on the floor while hitting her forehead on the ground till she drew blood while pleading with him.
Unfortunately for her, Ji Yao had already made up his mind. Lady Ching Sei was pissed off with this girl but she couldn't stand seeing her bloody her forehead like that.
She shuffled over and held her by the shoulders while calling out, "Yao-er," in a soft voice but Ji Yao was unmoved.
"Read it," he said with an intense glare aimed at Zhang Li.
Zhang Li jolted in fright as he broke out in a cold sweat. "Terrifying..... too terrifying," he mumbled to himself as he patted his chest. Ji Yao was even more terrifying than Ji Wen himself.
'Note to self, never ever offend Ji Yao,' he thought as he began to read the punishment.
