Chapter 275: Minos vs Johnson
Chapter 275: Minos vs Johnson
Minos snickered after seeing the flashy entrance of the Guardian. Johnson walked inside the ring as the crowd cheered his name.
"Johnson, you're amazing!"
"Do it in under a minute, Johnson!"
"Johnson, we love you!"
With the crowd cheering for the other person, Minos could only sigh. He twisted his mallet and assumed a defensive stance, "It seems like everyone else in your side."
"Don't be silly," Johnson chuckled. "They just like me for my title."
The bell rang and the two men clashed their magic. Johnson conjured a sand wave that Minos blocked with a surge of electric shocks like a rain of lightning bolt.
"Your magic can approach Zeus if you harness it," Johnson said. "Try being trained by him for once. Who knows? You might even surpass the old man."
"I don't care about those fancy titles and your fame and money," Minos said. He rushed to where Johnson was, raising his mallet and slamming it to the man.
Johnson was able to conjure a wall made of sand to defend himself. He was forcing the sand to stand while his opponent was blasting electric shocks at his shield.
"You're really good," Johnson chuckled. He stomped his right foot forward, creating a smaller wave of sand. It forced Minos to back away, swinging his mallet sideways to knock the sand out.
When he turned to control his mallet, Johnson appeared behind him. The latter had a gloves made of sand around his arms, slamming it on Minos's back that made him flew right to the railings.
"I don't understand you Azure Scorch people," Johnson said. "Frederick and Luck could easily beat me in a match individually, add up Midnight and you and Aquarius, you could all beat all the Guardians. But then, why aren't you in the rankings?"
"We don't really care for your petty ranks," Minos said. "They must be crazy to let a tank fight with a damage dealer."
Minos covered his body with electric sparks. He ran towards Johnson and slammed his sword above. The latter raised his hand to form a shield but the mallet wasn't there anymore. He felt his body being swerved to the side as the mallet took him and slammed his body right on the railing.
This made Johnson speechless. Tanks are known for their heavy duty HP and defense, but then they're also slow when it comes to movement. What Minos showed him was an instantaneous move of a Stealth Knight, switching from one attack form to another in a matter of a blink of an eye.
"That was amazing, Minos," Johnson clapped his hands as he stood. "You covered your body with electricity to increase your speed without sacrificing your strength. In fact, that electric shock gave you a bit of a boost. That was amazing."
"Admiring the enemy in the midst of the battle," Minos scoffed. "Are you mocking me?"
"Somewhat," Johnson smirked. His face became serious and he placed his hand on the wooden platform. Sands seeped out from the gap of the platform, Johnson raised his other hand to form a large sword from the sand. "Let's show the crowd which tank can actually win."
"Lilith's disappearance has affected his mind," Aquarius said from the balcony. Elliot turned to him with a worried expression. Seeing this, he smiled at the boy and shook his head, "But Minos isn't giving it his all just yet. That guy has one or two more tricks up his sleeve."
"I hope he can beat a Guardian," Connor said. "It's going to be hard, even for him."
"Let's just trust him," Aquarius flattened his lips and watched his best friend on the ring. "Let's just trust him for now."
Johnson and Minos clashed their weapons in the middle of the platform. The sparks created from both blades were starting to blind the two of them, but neither one was going to back away.
Minos blasted his mallet with a spark of electricity, making Johnson back away first.
"Your sand sword is hard like metal," Minos said. "My metal mallet was having a hard time against it."
"That's because I put density in my sand," Johnson said. "The sand that I used to create this sword was so compacted, they feel just like metal."
"So, are we gonna fight or are we just going to talk?" Minos smirked.
"You started the whole conversation though," Johnson sighed and slammed his right foot forward. Minos gasped when the man suddenly disappeared, only appearing right behind him with a sword ready to swing.
Minos placed the head of his weapon to the floor and crouched. Electric sparks traveled throughout his body, the sparks focusing on his back that he used to defend against Johnson's attack.
Johnson stepped away with a smirk on his lips, "That was amazing! You could cover yourself with something like an armor."
"I can," Minos replied.
This lit up Johnson's face. He pierced his sword to the ground and held on the handle, "Wanna try a full body armor? I mean, your other teammate can do it, why can't you, right? Or sre you too scared to try it because it's hard? No matter. Come on."
Minos smirked and flung his mallet over his shoulder. He opened his legs and held the shaft of his weapon with both his forearms. "Let's go!"
"Beetle Armor!" Johnson summoned sand like what he did with his sword, but this time the sand traveled up to his body and created a large armor. The armor formed a beetle-like shape, his body fully covered with hardened sand.
"You can do this that easily?" Minos sighed. He took a deep breath and felt the mana around him. He had an elemental affinity that was a correspondence of air. This meant that he could seep magic from the air and into his body.
"Giant Tortoise!" Minos yelled and let electricity flow throughout him. Just like what he did earlier on his back, he focused a dense magic there, forming a shell behind him. His whole body was already covered with a heavy armor, so he only needed to coat the armor with electricity.
His plan had worked, he could now conjure an armor. He wanted to do this for a long time but he was too stubborn to do so. His pride didn't allow him to cover himself up more, but now he got the push he needed.
Against Johnson, he felt like he was nothing. Even when the man was handicapped, Johnson was still only toying him.
"Now, we're talking!" Johnson cheered. "Let's go do this, Minos!"
Johnson was about to run towards his opponent, but he saw no one there. His body twitched when he felt something behind him. The feeling made him turn, only to be smashed in the body with a mallet.
His large armor didn't help with the impact. Johnson was thrown to the side, clashing with the metal railings while he was still covered with a thick beetle armor.
"Speed and strength," Johnson grinned. "Amazing"
Once again, Minos appeared in front of him. He wore a lazy expression, feeling the drain of maintaining the armor. "I'll finish this now!"
Johnson only smiled, letting the man crack open his sand armor. Minos took him out and pulled his collar, his eyes narrowing at Johnson.
"You let me win just like that?" Minos asked. "Why?"
"Who says I'm giving up?" Johnson smirked.
This promted Minos to zap his opponent with a strong shock of electricity. Johnson could only shake and tremble as he feel the electricity travel throughout his body.
"A-And we have our Division B winner!" Zia announced. "Johnson only has half his power right now so he couldn't go all out. But this is fair."
