Without a word of warning, the Goddess waved her arm in a sweeping motion. A dark palm surged forwards, lacing the air with raw terror.

Palm after palm descended upon the vicinity as if the sky itself had fallen. Even the Yuanli within Ye Mo felt leaden, as if the palms had petrified it alongside with his body.

“Young man, did you honestly think you could hide it from me? If you had yielded to me before and handed over your secret artifact, I could have granted you enormous powers. But now it’s too late. The Spirit Devour Realm is the fifth stage within the True Energy Realm, and it allows the user to directly attack another’s mind using their Mind Gate. Now, I shall use this Mindbender technique on you to extract that piece of memory!” The Goddess said, still hovering mid-air. Her eyes widened as an invisible current surged out of her mind and lunged at Ye Mo.

It was a powerful, malevolent energy, incapacitating Ye Mo completely. Even the Rising Dragon Pillar was bound by invisible chains.

This energy was what she called the Mindbender technique, capable of invading one’s thoughts, snatching memories or even one’s consciousness.

The energy slowly wormed its way into Ye Mo’s body, bypassing the barrier and heading straight towards his Energy Center, before stealing away his memories.

“Hm?”

The invisible energy gathered into the form of a humanoid, yet this creature did not resemble the Goddess, but rather, appeared to be a hideous monster.

“What is that pillar? Dragons are considered sacred creatures, yet so many dragons are circling this pillar, are bound to this pillar. It must be something of extraordinary origin, the reason behind the boy’s immense powers. If only I could take this... then I would be freed from the Goddess’ Eternal Spring. This pillar will be mine, and the boy, I want the boy dead.” The monster let out a cackle and extended its reach towards the Rising Dragon Pillar.

Feeling the claws reaching for the pillar, yet unable to rouse the Dragon Power, caused Ye Mo to feel utterly powerless as he stared at the monster before him.

“How dare you, a lowly creature from hell, come and trample on my territory!”

Suddenly, Ling’er’s voice sounded from the Sealing Charm. It spun around quickly and transformed into a cute sprite.

Ling’er opened her palm, producing a Sealing Charm saturated with Spirit Energy, which swiftly wrapped around the monster.

“This is a sealing charm especially designed for abominations such as you!”

“There’s someone inside his Energy Center?” As it was bound by the shackles of the seal, it gradually realized its powers seeping away from it after the initial shock.

“How is this possible? This is formed by Spirit Energy. How can one sealing charm absorb all my power?”

“So what if you possess Spirit Energy? You think you can lay a finger on big brother Ye Mo? You are leagues behind. I bet you’ve been waiting for this moment, haven’t you? Hiding your true colors and posing as the Heavenly Goddess. If you had appeared to Ye Mo in your original form, he would’ve taken you down,” said Ling’er as she floated about in the Energy Center, a sealing charm between her fingers.

“Who exactly are you? How did you absorb my Spirit Energy so effortlessly?”

Feeling its Spirit Energy quickly fading away, an overwhelming sense of danger rang in the monster’s head, causing it to expand its body in an attempt to break free. However, the sealing charm merely expanded as well to accommodate the increase.

Ling’er tossed out the sealing charm, and as it hovered above the monster, it exuded dazzling light until the monster began to scream.

That beacon of light gleamed and shone with a radiance that could trump the Holy Light wielded by the Emperor. Such was the light of the Holy Sealing Charm, designed especially to defeat monsters and evil spirits.

“Now!” With a command from Ling’er, the monster, still in its spirit form, was sucked into the sealing charm. She opened her small mouth and in it went.

“A good source of Spirit Energy. I’m recovering faster now.” She nodded approvingly, as she noted her body seemed to be more solid than before, a sign that she was indeed recovering.

Having had her Mindbender interrupted, the Goddess who was still hovering mid-air spat out a blood-soaked arrow. The arrow harbored such power that it pierced through the air, stirring up howling winds in its path.

Her body slowly transformed into the monster’s, its two eyes the size of fists, its fangs flecked with blood, a visage of terror.

“I cannot believe the sheer amount of treasures hidden within this young man. My previous opponent must have been a Deity level Sealing Charm that transcended to become a charm sprite. That pillar, too, must be something extraordinary; I’m going to kill him, and then possess him. So even though I may have lost some of my powers, with those two items in hand, I will once again harness unimaginable power in no time,” the monster bellowed, mobilizing all its strength and opening its wide, gaping mouth as if it were trying to consume Ye Mo.

“Behold as I take control of your body!”

Ye Mo’s eyes widened in horror as he took in the sight of the approaching monster, unable to move a muscle. This was the sheer difference in power between them.

“Die, evil beast!” Ling’er leapt out from within Ye Mo, once more brandishing the Holy Sealing Charm. The charm shone brightly, blessing the world with its sanctifying light.

Under the dazzling gleam of the holy light, the monster trembled in terror, and blood trickled down its face.

Ling’er lifted Ye Mo and teleported him back to the Goddess’ Grotto before quickly vanishing out of sight and back into his Energy Center.

What just happened, thought Ye Mo. The events that had just transpired felt like a nightmare, where he was inches away from being possessed by a wicked spirit.

But he knew all that had happened was very much real.

“You silly idiot, you were about to be possessed by the monster! It was probably sealed inside the Goddess’ Eternal Spring and was hoping to rely on another’s powers to escape. We aren’t strong enough to kill it right now, but don’t worry too much, since it can’t drag you into the spring as long as you stay away from it,” said Ling’er.

“Ling’er, you saved my life!” Ye Mo grinned.

Hearing his words, she sat on a piece of sealing charm parchment, crossing her legs smugly. After absorbing the monster’s Spirit Energy, her powers seemed to have strengthened.

Seeing Ye Mo emerge out of the spring, the others breathed a sigh of relief. The christening was not a difficult process, yet he had been stuck in there for quite a long time.

“I am now the mayor of the City of Daughters. I take that my word will hold weight to them now?”

“Naturally!”

“Starting from today, the Goddess’ Eternal Spring will not be open to anyone!”

“Mayor, this...” Liu Qingcheng asked quizzically.

“Are you questioning my decision? Whatever your concerns are, voice them later at the meeting,” said Ye Mo as he made his way out of the Grotto. The others followed suit, and the Grotto sealed itself. Trembles emitted from the Grotto, as if something residing within it was howling in fury.

“You brat! Release me! I swear I will slay each and every citizen of the City of Daughters and drain their blood!”
